Teaching

Stacy has taught at many public and private institutions, including the University of Alabama; University of Southern California; Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles; and the University of Nevada, Reno.

She is especially passionate about making poetry accessible to young people, and has taught creative writing at the high school, middle school, and grade school levels as part of Sarah Lawrence College’s Writers Village program, University of Alabama’s Rural Health Scholars program, the Orange County School of the Arts’ Creative Writing Conservatory, and through Sounds of Color studio in Santa Ana, CA.

In Summer 2022, Stacy launched Wordstruck Young Writers institute, a virtual creative writing school that offers programming for middle- and high-school students. Please see the Wordstruck website for more information.

If you are a teacher interested in having Stacy visit your school to discuss poetry with your students, or if you are a parent interested in having Stacy tutor your child in creative writing, please reach out using this site’s contact form.
